Frequently Asked Questions
Please be patient as we try to gather answers to your popular questions. We will continue to update so please keep checking back.
What is club volleyball?
Club Volleyball provides opportunities for players and coaches to participate in quality programs that cater to various levels of play beyond the traditional school season. The BC club season runs from January to May β with many clubs hosting try outs in December / early January.

What to expect on day of tryouts:
Athletes are required to check in 30 minutes prior to their tryout session and will be assigned a number. Following a brief introduction of expectations and selection criteria, our experienced coaching staff will run the athletes through various drills. Athletes will be evaluated on skills such as passing, setting, serving, blocking, defending and attacking. Tactical and behavioral skills will also be evaluated. Athletes 15U and older, will also be assessed position specifically (setters, middles, liberos (when applicable) and outside attackers).
The Selection Committee reviews each athlete to determine athlete ranking and placement on a team.
What is sportlomo?
…Sportlomo is the platform VBC uses for insurance, and NSVC will use for registration. Each athlete, coach, referee or person who has direct athlete contact (board of director) in club volleyball needs this insurance. This is not optional. You will need to create a sportlomo account for each individual involved in the club. This will be part of the registration process and NSVC will have links on the website when this is available.
Do I have to attend tryouts?
Tryout attendance is essential to provide equitable opportunities for athletes to demonstrate their skill and abilities. Every attempt must be made to attend your age category tryout time. In cases where it is not possible to attend tryouts, athletes will need to request an exemption. This will include a brief explanation why you can not attend, and a reference letter from a previous coach outlining your volleyball experience. Attending tryouts does not guarantee athletes a position on any NVSC team. Tryout fees will not be refunded for any reason.
Will I be able to play?
….Of course we would like to offer any athlete who would like to play the opportunity. That being said a club is only a strong as its coaches and volunteers. So the more individuals who step forward to help, the more opportunities there will be for athletes to participate.
